This week we feature Veronica, who blogs at sewVery,
which is all about sewing. At her blog, Veronica has tutorials
for projects such as refashioned sweaters, turning pants into capris,
Christmas decorations and much more. She also offers custom orders
which are just adorable. We asked Veronica some questions about her sewing blog, and here’s
what she had to say.
Can you tell us a little bit about your blog and when you started it?
sewVery began in January 2012 as a place where I could share my homemade
creations with out-of-town family and friends; however, the blog quickly
turned into a place where I met countless new friends who all share
similar interests in sewing, crafting and creating. While I still
primarily sew for my children, I now make purses and clothing for myself
and occasionally take custom orders or tackle a machine embroidery
project. Testing and reviewing sewing patterns is one of my favorite
things to blog about, and I have hopes to eventually design and sell my
own clothing patterns one day soon!
When I'm not crafting, I can be found...
Watching my son play baseball, taking my daughter to dance class, watching TV with my husband or reading other sewing blogs!
Where do you find inspiration for your creative projects?
I
am lucky to have lots of very talented friends who ask me to test out
their sewing patterns, so normally I just have to decide which fabrics
and embellishments I want to use. When I'm not testing or reviewing a
pattern, I enjoy searching children's online catalogs for outfits and
fabric combinations that appeal to me. I find it challenging and very
rewarding to make a pattern and sew up my own version of a ready to wear
look I've pinned!
