This pattern is originally from a knitting magazine published in 1969. This is no longer in circulation, so in order to make it available for more vintage loving knitters, I am transcribing the instructions exactly as written in the original pattern book and offering them here.
Original Yarn:
BERNAT BERELLA GERMANTOWN (2 oz. balls) - 3
You can google vintage yarns to get the specifications, then match those up to modern yarn.
Knitting Needles: (knitted mostly flat, then switches to circular knitting for decreasing the end)
1 pair each - size 6 and 8 straight needles (Canadian Needles Nos. 8 and 6)
OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES THAT WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW
1 set double pointed needles (or circular) – size 8 (Canadian d p Needles No. 6)
Gauge: 5 ½ sts x 6 rows = 1”
