The classic purl stitch is present here by Same Elliott and Sidney Bryan, authors of "How to Use, Adapt, and Design Knitting Patterns."
Hold the yarn and needles in the same way as for making a knit stitch. A purl stitch is the exact opposite
of a knit stitch, producing a nubbly stitch to the front and a smooth V-like knit stitch on the
opposite side. Alternate rows of knit and purl produce stockinette stitch.
Step 1
lnsert the right needle into the first stitch on the left needle. Make sure it goes into the stitch from right to left.
Step 3
Lower the tip of the right needle, taking it away from you to draw a loop of yarn through the stitch.
Step 4
Slip the stitch off the left needle. There is now a new stitch on the right needle.
