Step 1
Using a ruler, find the diameter of the mason jar lid. Mark a dot in the center. Place lid on wooden block and, using a 3/16-inch bit, drill a pilot hole into the lid. Use closed needle-nose pliers to stretch the hole to fit soap dispenser pump tube snugly. Remove any metal shavings by wiping down with a thick cloth. Place the mason jar lid with pump on top of the mason jar. If the pump tube is too long, trim it with a utility knife.
Step 2
Using <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004Z4CP/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00004Z4CP&linkCode=as2&tag=craftfocom-20">Scotch painter's tape</a>, lay bands of tape around the Mason jar to make stripes for painting. Apply spray paint and allow to dry.
Step 3
Place glue on the rim of the mason jar lid (with soap dispenser pump removed) and press to the inside of one of the Mason jar bands. Allow to dry. Place glue on the outside rim of the Mason jar band and place the second band on top, inverted. Press and allow to dry.
Step 4
Once dry, remove the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004Z4CP/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00004Z4CP&linkCode=as2&tag=craftfocom-20">Scotch painter's tape</a> and fill the Mason jar with soap or shampoo. Place the soap dispenser pump tube through the hole of the Mason jar lid. Attach the now-glued Mason jar bands. Fill the inverted bands with potting soil and plant small succulents in the soil. To finish, add just a little water (about a TBS) or several pumps of water from a spray bottle.
