Knitting and rocking chairs already have quite a few commonalities. For example, they're both slightly dated throwbacks to an earlier, slower time, and then there's the back-and-forth and back-and-forth on which both rely. Ecal University of Art and Design students have combined these two by converting a rocking chair swing into a knitting machine. Yarn is fed into a gear mechanism attached to the rocking chair and then, much like a a loom, pumped around a wool tube to create a somewhat-stylish stocking cap.
Would you buy this unique knitting machine? Head to Ecal for more information about this and other low-tech designs.
