This week, the announcement that ReadyMade was closing took the spotlight, dominating the craft internet for the past few days. Like you, we’re mourning the loss of yet another crafty magazine. But what really stung was the fact that the ReadyMade website would be shut down as well. With plenty of crafty, DIY-oriented people out there, it seems like there’d be plenty of support to keep the site alive. But like the closings of other favorite magazines (RIP Domino), we may never know exactly all the reasons why the decision was made.

Inmates at a Maryland prison are learning how to sew by creating historically accurate flags to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. The response has been very positive from both the inmates and the recipients of the flags.

We thought that the most danger that could happen while vintage shopping would be racking up a credit card bill. Not for this vintage shop owner in New York’s Lower East Side. When he confronted a robber, he was thrown through his own store window. Intense.
