These cases are perfect if you want a little extra protection for your laptop, handheld games, or cell phone. They’ll prevent scratches and keep your gear looking adorable. Simple woven fabrics are best for this project, such as cotton, corduroy, or twill. If you would like a little extra security, a layer of thin fleece or quilt batting can be added between the lining and outside layers. The patterns provide guides to make a netbook case, handheld video game (such as Nintendo DS) case, and a cell phone (such as iPhone) case.

Appliqué. Cut the pattern pieces (see Steps 6 and 7, below) from your fabric and make all applicable markings. Apply fusible web to the appliqué pieces. Iron the appliqué fabric to the main pieces where the pattern indicates and sew along the edges. Also sew lines where the pattern indicates.
Apply the hook-and-loop tape (or velcro). Sew the loop side of the tape on the outer fabric front piece, and the hook side on the lining fabric back piece.
Sew the front. Sew the front lining and outer pieces together at the top. Turn them over and iron them flat.
Sew the front to the back. Sandwich the front piece between the back and back lining. Do this with the lining fabrics facing each other. Sew along the perimeter, keeping the opening as indicated by the pattern to turn the pouch right side out.
Finish. Turn the bag right side out and iron flat. Using the ladder stitch, sew the opening at the bottom closed.
